Let's plan our trip
Not sure where to start? We're here to help and will gladly take care of most of the planning and organization for you.
Just follow the steps below and before you know it, you’ll be walking among giraffes and zebras…
1
Explore Our Packages
We’ve put together four inspiration packages to make your planning effortless:
The Adventure Safari, The Classic Safari, The Luxe Safari, and The Little Rangers.
Whether you're traveling as a couple, with young children, with teens, or with the entire extended family, there’s a perfect fit for you.
Each package offers a beautiful base itinerary that can be booked as is, or tailored further with extra days and optional activities to suit your preferences.

When Would You Like to Visit?
Think about when you’d like to travel.
The best time to visit is between April and November.
July and August are our winter months, the perfect season for spotting wildlife. The trees have shed their leaves and it's the dry season, so animals gather around waterholes, making them easier to find.
Expect clear blue skies, daytime temperatures around 25°C, and cool nights around 10°C.
This time of year also carries virtually no malaria risk (although it’s never entirely zero), unlike the African summer months.
In spring and autumn, it’s a bit warmer, great for a dip in the pool. Daytime temperatures can reach 30°C, while nights remain pleasantly cool.

Availability?
Now that you’re getting excited, let’s check if there’s still space!
Feel free to contact Lilian via the website or email her directly at
info@hasekampfamilylodge.com
If you're seriously considering a stay and your plans are taking shape, ask us to place an option for you.
We’ll reserve your chalet temporarily and get in touch if another request comes in, that way, you’ll always have first choice.

Flights and Rental Car
We work with Angela from The Travel Club in the Netherlands. If you’d prefer to outsource your flights and car rental, she’s happy to take care of it for you.
Angela can also help extend your trip, for example, with a visit to Cape Town or a stay at another accommodation.
You’ll be in direct contact with both Angela and Lilian, so communication is quick and personal. Together, they’ll make sure every detail of your journey is perfectly arranged.
Feel free to reach out to Angela directly:

Good to Know
Location
The lodge is located in Hoedspruit, right next to Kruger National Park, perfectly central for all activities.
You’ll fly into OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, where you can rent a car and enjoy a scenic 5-hour drive to the lodge. It’s a beautiful journey that already gives you a great impression of South Africa.
Alternatively, you can take a 50-minute domestic flight from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit. From there, it’s just about an hour’s drive to the lodge with a rental car.
Vaccinations & Malaria
The lodge is just outside the official malaria zone, but malaria can still occur. The malaria season typically runs from November to April.
If you’re unsure whether you need medication, we recommend contacting your local health authority for advice (such as the GGD in the Netherlands).
If you’ve followed the standard Dutch vaccination program, no additional vaccinations are required for travel to South Africa.

Time to Make decisions
By now, you've aligned everything with Lilian and, either on your own or with Angela's help, selected your flights.
That means we can now confirm your travel dates. Once the deposit is paid, your chalet is officially reserved, and we’ll start planning and booking your full itinerary.
All activities included in the packages are subject to availability, so for experiences like the Big 5 safari, we recommend booking as early as possible.
Now comes the hardest part…
a little patience. ;-)
